Inspection of your equipment
An effective inspection is well prepared. There are several tools which can be complementary. Knowledge of the tools with their limitations is necessary to optimize the approach. Visual inspection is fundamental, but it relies on the person and can be misleading. The purpose of the inspection is to identify areas at risk in the overall areas: uniform corrosion exists but usually not the major risk. Monitoring the general evolution is useful for anticipating preventive maintenance.
For corrosion protection claddings, checking their integrity is critical. Their mode of degradation varies depending the technology but a cladding defect, even localized, means a high-risk increase: a leak is very often punctual.
